    Recycling project in Hout Bay

TrashBack and Mobilitrix have collaborated to reward participants for collection various types of solid waste in the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement in Hout Bay as part of the incentivised programme known as uphinda-phindo!

Meaning 'repetition' in Xhosa, the project was launched in September 2011 with local NPO Thrive, the Hout Bay Recycling Co-op and The Broccoli Project and has collected more than 22 tons of recyclable materials.

As a mobile reward and mobile CRM specialist, Mobilitrix provides direct engagement to participants, using the mobile phone to enhance and automate the current pilot project so that it can be scaled easily. It will also make available a wider selection of mobile rewards, including mobile vouchers and coupons for retail stores across the country.

Andrew McNaught, co-founder of TrashBack commented, "As we expand, we want to work with companies that provide us with smart and relevant technologies that fit our business goals. Mobilitrix provides us with this technology and thinking. We also wish to partner with various retailers to set up mutually beneficial relationships"

Chris Rolfe, CEO of Mobilitrix noted, "The role of mobile CRM and rewards in direct consumer engagement is central to this learning and sharing relationship. TrashBack is an innovative and dynamic business that is bringing meaningful change to Imizamo Yethu. We look forward to the journey with them."
