New vintages out for winter
Zonnebloem has just released the 2009 vintage of its flagship blend, Lauréat, which is still largely a Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) and Merlot (35%) blend, but includes Petit Verdot (10%) and Malbec (10%). The inclusion of these classic Bordeaux cultivars brings more complexity and an additional dimension to the wine, which go well with rich game and red meat dishes or robust cheeses.
Knorhoek Estate has released its Cabernet Franc 2007 vintage, which is blended with 15% Merlot and has the potential to develop further in the bottle for another five years. Try it with any springbok, ostrich or kudu dishes; your favourite pork loin with plum sauce, or a beef fillet with truffle sauce.
The Zonnebloem Lauréat 2009 retails at approximately R79 per bottle and the Knorhoek Cabernet Franc 2007 is available from R80 per bottle.
