Times Live: Woolies forced to repent... It seems the threat of a boycott was enough to make the chain 'see the error of its ways', but does that mean that a precedent has been set? Will it now be the done thing to flood the CEO's inbox with complaints when you're miffed?

Yesterday the retailer apparently said that it reviews 'all its merchandise on a regular basis - "be it bananas, bread or magazines"' and then, presumably, cans those that are not selling to the required level. That makes sense, doesn't it? Well, it used to...
IOL: Christians to boycott Woolworths... But here's the twist... The company told the magazines its policy is/was/now who knows? to not stock religious and political literature and Woolworths chief executive Simon Susman, replying to a letter from Errol Naidoo complaining about the decision, apparently wrote: "Our teams were regrettably in error in listing this kind of publication. They have now been reminded of the policy." Aah, OK, that's clear then... "Team, you know those magazines you've been stocking for years? Well...you're going to laugh about this one day, but..."
