The 'Go See' film expo 2004

The Go See Film Expo, debuting at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on 15 -16 October 2004, has been created out of a realization that the film industry needs a hands-on platform from which to network, interact and showcase all the sectors.

This inaugural event will open its doors exclusively to the film industry on 15 October, with a formal opening ceremony at which key film and government representatives will be in attendance.

On 16 October, the Go See Film Expo will welcome the public, film schools, advertising colleges, drama and film departments, modeling and hair and make-up schools and anyone interested in film, with an action-packed and informative schedule of events, including the 'New Face' competition, team challenges, staged stunts, lighting show and prizes, as well as informing the public about the role and economic benefits of film in the region, such as job creation - in spite of the disruption factor - and the spin-offs for the tourism industry.

Cape Town's film industry, has over the past eight years, experienced a surge in popularity as a destination for the fashion, film and advertising industry. However, constant change in the needs of clients and the methods used to conduct business has alerted the film industry to the challenge of adapting and delivering solutions and forging business linkages.

"With the busy season around the corner, if Cape Town is to continue to be considered a top international destination, and not lose out to new, more cost-effective destinations, a united industry - pulling in the same direction - will give us more clout," comments organizer, Kathy English Brower. One of the main Expo objectives noted is to strengthen ties between the production industry and the service/supply/hospitality industry, as well as standardizing quality and provide a stepping stone for new suppliers wishing to market their products to the industry.
