Local bubbly gets the nod from American aficionados
Since December 2008, this Pinotage driven Cap Classique has attained a 90-point rating for its 2007 vintage in both Wine & Spirits Magazine and Wine Enthusiast, two definitive wine publications in the USA.
With this double 90-point score Simonsig's Brut Rosé has certainly moved on from being just the lively sibling of South Africa's renowned first bottle fermented sparkling wine, Kaapse Vonkel.
Wine & Spirits Magazine praises the Brut Rosé for its exemplary quality in its February 2009 issue and describes this full flavoured pink sparkler as a ‘full-on rosé and a blend of Pinotage and 10% Pinot Noir that delivers'.
Wine Enthusiast gave this Cap Classique a 90-point rating in its December issue.
“My enduring passion for bubblies stems from my late father, Frans Malan, the first South African to produce bottle fermented sparkling wine in 1971,” says Simonsig Cellar Master Johan Malan, who is also the founding chairman of the Cap Classique Producers Association.
This Simonsig MCC retails from around R80 per bottle and is available at the cellar or leading wine outlets and restaurants.
