    Chicken for smart people

    The smart Car recently hit South African shores as an economical and funky alternative to conventional vehicles. Trend-spotting design company, Cross Colours were quick to utilise the new smart Car for Nando's.

    Expanding on Nando's fun and off-beat brand identity and playing on the company's 'local flava', Cross Colours renamed the vehicle a 'smart Tjorrie'. The 'flame-grilled chicken' theme is central to the design, whilst Nando's famous spicy Peri-Peri is referred to in 'Hot Wheels' and 'Chilli Chilli bang bang'. (The latter recalls the children's story about a car that could fly).

    The puns, tongue-in-cheek copy and eye-catching graphics give the 'smart Tjorrie' high impact, visibility and recall - the prerequisites of any good advertisement.
