Celebration of team members

A highlight of the celebrations was the recognition of long-serving employees, several of whom have been with the company for more than 20 years. Their dedication, expertise and commitment have played an important role in shaping Scan Display.

Justin Hawes, founder and Managing Director of Scan Display, says: “It’s wonderful to celebrate this important milestone. It’s thanks to our team that we have achieved what we have. It was apt that we celebrated the 50 employees who have been with us for more than a decade.”

The journey since 1996

Founded in Johannesburg in 1996, Scan Display started out with a small range of display products. Over the years, the company has expanded its offering and geographic footprint, opening branches in Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha and Gaborone.

Scan Display was the first African member of the International Federation of Exhibition & Event Services (IFES) and the company’s Managing Director, Justin Hawes, served on the IFES board from 2013 to 2024 and as President for 2021-2022. Through its IFES membership, Scan Display has developed a network of global partners.

Today, Scan Display is one of Southern Africa's leading exhibition, events and display specialists, offering a comprehensive turnkey service for exhibition stands, event infrastructure, displays and brand activations.

Exhibition stands have become a core area of expertise for Scan Display. The company has won numerous industry awards over the years for its innovative stands - both custom and portable.

Over the years, the company has grown its infrastructure capabilities to include innovative products like rolled carpeting, fabric shell scheme, the Portable AV Lightbox and online services management. Some of the company’s annual infrastructure projects include the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, Investing in African Mining Indaba, We Are Africa, Professional Beauty and Wines2Whales Riders’ Lounge.

Ongoing commitment to sustainability

The exhibition and event industry has evolved through the years, with sustainability becoming an important focus. Scan Display is a committed member of the Event Greening Forum (EGF), a non-profit organisation promoting sustainable practices in the industry. Scan Display encourages clients to use green design principles and eco-friendly products, and this commitment has earned the company recognition through several green stand awards in recent years.

Vision for the future

As Scan Display celebrates 30 years in business, the company remains committed to delivering exceptional exhibition, event and display solutions and continuing to create value for clients.
