SABC... This is the WRONG thing to do

And Faulty Towers is back in the news... again. This time for sending out threatening letters in a debt collection process that outraged consumer and justice groups describe as "tantamount to extortion" and racketeering. It also appears that, according to the Sunday Times, the SABC has been lying to us. The paper also revealed that the SABC is under investigation by the National Consumer Commission.

Sanity at last? We can only hope, since the government and Sanef appear to have committed to closer ties and resolved to work closely together for the good of the country.

And we're back to Faulty Towers again, with a pensioner becoming increasingly fed up with the SABC. Join the club.

On a not so paltry poultry matter, a small fast-food chain has irked a larger one and caused a bit of a flap by allegedly trying to fly high by using the same term for its wings as that used by the larger chain.

And to end, find out more about The Bookmarks 2012 with our [Biz Takeouts Podcast] 42: The Bookmarks 2012 - shortlist of finalists.

Customers drive the changing face of advertising
[Antonio Petra] Advertising is changing fundamentally. It is being significantly challenged by internal and external forces such as an ongoing global economic crisis and increased measurability which are hammering it into a new shape, and possibly a new industry. Can SA restore investor confidence?
[Dr Nikolaus Eberl] As a historian who has been tracking the fate of developing country brands ever since World War II, and having spent almost twenty years in various parts of South Africa, the recent crisis in key industry sectors has compelled me to lock myself away in the inner sanctuary of deciphering South Africa's brand image as is and should be, and to analyse just what can be done to reverse the economic fortunes of Africa's leading economy. Pensioner fed up with inept SABC
[Megan Power] Where Arthur Saunders finds injustice and inefficiency, he fights it. So it's little surprise he waged a 16-month battle against the SABC over TV licence fees.
