Adventures in Zambezia sells million tickets internationally
The Triggerfish Animation Studios film, Adventures in Zambezia, has turned over one million ticket sales in the limited territories in which it has opened. It opened this weekend in Iceland and is at number four, outperforming the 3D re-release of Pixar/Disney's Finding Nemo in total gross receipts.
The film hit number two in Russia in its second week, is currently placed at number two in Bulgaria after debuting at number four last week, is in sixth place in the Ukraine, after its fifth weekend and was the highest grossing independent feature in Israel for the summer.
Triggerfish CEO Stuart Forrest comments, "The film has exceeded all our expectations and really performed well abroad. We are very excited that it has now become the biggest selling South African cinema film of all time and we have a long way to go before the international run is finished."
