I would like to apply for the position of Junior Sales/Marketing Consultant as advertised on the website. I am the holder of a Diploma in International Travel and have been certified by Galileo. I worked for Thompsons Africa in Westville, Durban as a Systems Co-ordinator for two and a half years. I left this position as I required a more challenging environment with opportunities for career advancement.
I feel that the Travel Industry afforded me the platform to launch myself into the next phase of my career. In the course of my career, I encountered numerous challenges both with suppliers and customers, from accommodation being fully booked to handling client complaints and queries as a result of supplier non-performance. Through all this I had to be resourceful and client focused while determining the best course of action in delivering the promised service. In these instances I had to safeguard the reputation of the company at all times while delivering an optimal solution for its clients.
I recognised that as our business was primarily based on referrals it was important to grow the client base by acting with integrity at all times. I learnt to empathise with my clients in order to best understand their requirements. "Going the extra mile" became my motto and part of my work ethic. In instances where a solution was not immediately forthcoming, I learnt to be both persistent and resilient. I enjoyed my interactions with different personalities as I felt this brought about personal growth and development.
I feel that my past experiences equipped me with the necessary skills to grow in the sales and marketing arena. My immediate goal is to be either appointed as a Junior Sales or Marketing Consultant. I feel that this will afford me with the opportunity to fine-tune my skills and grow as I make a positive contribution to the team I will be working with.
I reside in Tableview, Cape Town, and would be available immediately.
