Show profile Hide profileI am a goal orientated and target driven individual, with the character and skills to face all obstacles. I am unafraid to challenge the world I live in & more importantly myself. I have worked in all areas of hotel management, including sales. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with future managers & learn from the leaders in my field.
I was recently asked who I am, and I realized that I am a South African. I am resourceful and have the courage and skills to survive. I am part of an every changing country that is in the forefront of challenging old ideas and bringing in new. We are not scared to challenge authority for the betterment of the group. I am a South African and proud.
As a manager I consider myself perceptive and like to find possibilities for improvement in all situations, I can be very excited and enthusiastic about my idea. I have the ability to spread this enthusiasm to other, and get their support. I am able to develop systems and once the fine tuning has been down, allowing others to further add to the systems, resulting in input from all staff members, and the result is that the staff make it their own.
I consider myself an independent thinker, who is flexible and able to adapt to what the situation requires. My motto is "Do not give me problems, let's find a solution together". When I am presented with a problem, I am able to improvise and try and find creative solutions. One cannot motivate staff by shouting or constantly criticizing their work, but rather by finding more intelligent ways to run an operation.
I am able to ensure profits by ensuring that expenses do not exceed budgets. This is done, not only by careful selection of suppliers, ensuring the best price for the product, but by curbing theft in the hotels and company I have worked for.
I value knowledge and enjoying learning from others who have acquired the necessary skills to make good managers. Hospitality is a "people" industry, the reason for this wonderful industry. I strive to create that home from home feeling in all the companies I have worked, hoping to benefit the company, the client and the all-important, staff.
