Show profile Hide profileI matriculated 2007. I then completed a BA Fine Art Honors Degree at Wits in 2011. I have always wanted to do animation; I however feel that the route I took was best as it gave me the opportunity to learn other things in a focused manner, such as sculpture; photography; design; painting; litho printing etc. Doing Fine Art also allowed me harness my researching skills, whilst doing History of Art; Politics and International Relations. It also helped me to think in a more lateral manner.
In my honors year at Wits I also began the first year 2D animation course at Nemisa. I felt that I wanted to be able to do both 2D and 3D animation. Wits only offered Stop Frame Animation, which I did in 3rd year, and Digital 3D Animation. Although I attended at Nemisa until about November I was unable to complete the first year as I was doing my honors at Wits at the same time and the work load became unmanageable. In the end I had to choose and my honors degree had to come first as I knew I wanted to do the MA Animation course.
I feel that all this has prepared me well for the MA Digital Animation Course which I began at Wits in 2012. I have completed the course component and I am currently completing my research report, which Pippa Tshabalala is supervising. I have done a number of part time jobs from being a Barista to teaching people how to paint. I am now however ready and keen to begin work in the industry and would be happy to begin in any animation studio as an intern. I have a life long love of learning and I am excited about my future in this industry.
