Hennie Kriel
Afrikaans man currently residing in Cape Town. Seeks full-time employment as language practitioner. Currently part-time freelance proofreader. In absence of full-time employment seeking extra freelance work.
Show profile Hide profileI have seven years experience as a language practitioner, in both full-time and part-time capacity. Currently I am the proofreader/ translator for New Media Publishing, working on DStv's magazines. My last full-time position in the field was as a sub-editor at Media24 publication Die Burger. I also did some proofreading work for travel agency Temba Travel.
Although most of my past work was in an Afrikaans environment, I have no problem working or writing in English. Most of the pieces I wrote or proofread for Temba Travel was in English and work at New Media Publishing also required a good grasp on the original English copy. My experience extends from traditional news media to magazines. In this regard I am a quick learner and find that I adapt quickly to new work environments.
Although my academic background indicates a strong interest in politics (an interest I still maintain), journalism was always in my sights and I started freelancing shortly after graduating. I don't consider my degree a handicap in my field of work experience, but more as an additional strength.
