I have just completed an MA in English at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and am now seeking full-time employment. After spending seven years in an academic environment, I am both well-equipped and eager to move into full-time employment, more particularly, into the journalism, advertising and publishing sectors. My particular academic strengths lie in journalism, advertising, public relations, and corporate communications. I feel that your company would provide new challenges that will not only require me to apply the knowledge and analytic skills I have thus far acquired, but also provide me with the opportunity to extend myself further and to meet new challenges.

My undergraduate majors were in English, and Media and Cultural Studies; I then went on to specialise in both majors, completing honours degrees in 2008 and 2009, and my Masters in 2012. In addition to completing core requirements such as courses in critical methodologies and media theory (journalism), I have also taken postgraduate courses in Visual Anthropology, Media in the Global World, South African Identities and Gender. My research projects and thesis are evidence of my strong analytical skills and my particular interest in gender, identity, cultural trends, and new media. My honours research projects considered issues exploring and ranging from the effect of urbanization on a traditional community to identity and new media. My Master's thesis is an investigation into the links between gender and place, exploring issues of the gendered experience of place in relation to African women's writing.

During the duration of my University studies I took an active and passionate role in the independent student newspaper and a student charity organisation; I held various positions on the executive committee of the newspaper and was on the media committee for the charity organisation. I believe this work experience has provided me with great efficiencies in both social and business interactions.
