Monkey Rescue Project needs help urgently
We are in the process of drafting a website to create awareness of the cruel practices of keeping Vervet monkeys as pets, and the barbaric capturing and trade in baby monkeys. At the moment we are looking after three monkeys that was rescued from cages in town. There are still a lot of monkeys chained to poles in backyards in Klerksdorp, Orkney, Stilfontein, Hartbeesfontein and in the townships that urgently needs to be rescued.
The application for registration as an NPO with The Directorate of the Department of Social Development will be submitted on Thursday 22 November 2007. This can take up to six months, but we can't wait. Six months for a monkey on a chain is pure hell and they need to be rescued now!
We urgently need financial help with building cost, food, transport, medical cost (some of these monkeys are in bad shape) and admin cost. (Setup and mantenance of website, printing of pamphlets and advertising in local newspapers.
All donations will be acknowledged on our website, and bank statements and expenditure will be published on the website. We want this project to be truly transparent and honest because we care and want to end the suffering of Vervet monkeys.
Kind regards
