  • Politicsweb: 'I can no longer associate myself with Independent Media' - Max du Preez... Veteran journalist Max Du Preez recently wrote an article in which he said that Zuma is SA's one-man wrecking ball.

That in turn led to the Presidency being somewhat upset, which in turn led to IOL issuing an apology. (The original piece appears below the apology.)

The result is that Du Preez has terminated his association with the group.

In his letter to Karima Brown, Executive Editor, Independent Media, Du Preez says that he takes issue with the fact that she "did not even have the decency to send me your apology in advance or to inform me that it was going to be published," and that he again found himself "writing a column for a group with leadership that I no longer respect". He's now feeling 'tainted' by his association with the Independent Media group so cannot continue that association.

He says, "It is time to depart, once again. I will betray my own past if I don't," and "... will no longer be writing a column for Independent Media".
