"While we all want what is best for ourselves and for our families, it is often difficult finding the time between work and life to provide healthy eating opportunities," says Bridget Van As, director.

While it may be easier serving takeaways and frozen meals, convenient foods fail dismally from a heart health perspective and are often loaded with harmful ingredients such as fats, sugars, sodium, artificial additives, sweeteners, colorants and preservatives.

The range allows colourful and varied dishes - fresh foods rich in antioxidants, designed to help lower cholesterol and with all the goodness of a home cooked meal, but without the fuss.

"Takeaways and frozen food are packed with trans-fats, which raise 'bad' LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels, while also decreasing 'good' cholesterol. They are also high in sodium, which can cause high blood pressure and increase your risk of heart disease. They contain high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which increases your risk of developing cardiovascular disease and are loaded with monosodium glutamate (MSG) - a sodium salt that can interfere with the nerve function in the brain. Not to mention the countless additives and preservatives found in takeaways, associated with allergies, asthma, arthritis, hay fever, hives, worsening eczema, headaches and hyperactivity. With an increase in the number of childhood obesity cases, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, heart disease and even cancer, the importance of what you put on your fork has never been more critical and it was with this in mind that this range was born."

Calorie controls lead to weight loss

Each calorie controlled meal pack is designed in accordance with an individual's activity level, with a four-week set but varied menu that takes the boredom out of dieting or eating healthy.

"It provides a lifestyle diet that is calorie controlled and which allows one to eat healthily without cutting out any particular food group. In addition to offering nutritionally balanced meals, the menu is updated every season and sometimes in between when our chefs want to introduce a new recipe. Healthy weight loss is inevitable when the correct plans are applied and are followed correctly. One can lose anything from 0.5kg a week to 1kg a week the healthy way and without feeling deprived

Safe packaging system

Each meal is packaged using a Darfresh® skin sealing vacuum system, a process that utilises two films to create a vacuum package, which has a second skin appearance. These materials preserve the colour, taste and integrity of the product that they envelope.

By using a vacuum seal technology, all air is removed from the package, which in turn reduces atmospheric oxygen thereby allowing and an extended shelf life and keeping food completely fresh and safe. A seal contours to the shape of the food, thereby keeping meals intact and minimising spillage of any sort. No gasses or any preservatives are used to keep the food fresh, thereby making it natural. Meals need to be removed from packaging prior to heating, but have an easy to open peel system.

Being green friendly in mind, meals are delivered in cooler bags that are reusable and 98% biodegradable.

The company also offers the services of an online dietician consultant who is able to provide advice and answer health or diet related questions, at no cost to the client. The website has included a blog section where recipes and relevant content are posted and updated regularly, with the latest offering being vouchers that can be purchased as gifts.
