A bumper year for SuperSport rugby coverage

SuperSport, will be showing at least 310 live rugby matches during 2005, including more than 40 internationals, all matches played by the Lions in New Zealand, and all Super 12 and Currie Cup fixtures. This is not counting live coverage of the World Cup Sevens in Hong Kong, or the IRB Sevens in Dubai and South Africa. Also included are all Six Nations (15) and Tri-Nations (6) test matches, all South Africa's internationals and the full list of 69 Super 12 and 32 Currie Cup fixtures.

Rugby fans can also look forward to 25 more European Heineken Cup matches and will see at least 17 Vodacom Cup matches before the start of the Currie Cup season. The New Zealand NPC Series will add 32 fixtures to the schedule. The Craven Week and Easter tournaments for schools, provincial under-20 and under-19 matches and the friendlies between the Sharks and Harlequins and the Stormers and the Gwent Dragons, before the Super 12, have also been scheduled for live broadcasting.

In addition to the three test matches between New Zealand and the British and Irish Lions, SuperSport will also televise the touring team's matches against provincial teams such as Otago, Wellington and Auckland andagainst the NZ Maori team.

Live coverage of up to eight rugby matches will be broadcast on some Saturdays, starting with Super 12 before dawn and ending, in one instance, at about 22:00 with the final whistle of a Six Nations test.
