Pantomime sponsorship secures Johannesburg entertainment for two years
The Joburg Theatre pantomime will be officially sponsored by BankservAfrica for the 2011 and 2012 Christmas theatre season. The company sees this as a new opportunity to promote and support South African culture in an exciting new arena, while supporting growth in Johannesburg's inner city and ensuring South African audiences can continue to watch their favourite shows.

BankservAfrica's group marketing head, Michael Rubenstein believes the arts are fundamental to the heritage of South Africans.
"South Africa is possibly the only location outside of Britain to have built a similar pantomime reputation for itself. The 2011 pantomime, Cinderella will be one of the most successful story-to-stage productions, both in South Africa and abroad, as it's one of the most accessible to audiences, as nearly everyone knows the story."
As a company that believes in investing in talent, Rubenstein says this strategic partnership with Joburg Theatre aligns with the company's pursuit of talent.
"The pantomime brings together some of the best acting talents in SA, similarly the company has been the unseen talent, driving South Africa's payment system, ensuring recognition for the country as a global payment system leader."
Playing to over 70 000 patrons each year, the Joburg Theatre pantomime is one of the most sought after theatre tickets in South Africa, explains Joburg Theatre CEO and executive producer Bernard Jay.
"We're thrilled at the opportunity to partner with BankservAfrica and ensure South African audiences can continue to enjoy this spectacular show, which this year features the most famous all-star celebrity cast yet seen on stage together in one production; ranging from Tobie Cronje and Robert Whitehead to 2010 Idols finalist Bongi Mthombeni."
