Terroir is fourth-best restaurant in SA
Terroir was chosen as one of the Top-10 restaurants in South Africa from a stellar line-up of 20 nominated restaurants from around the country. Terroir was singled out as the fourth-best restaurant in South Africa. Chef Michael Broughton proudly accepted the award along with members of his talented team.
Broughton was also one of the award-winning local chefs chosen to produce one of the courses that formed part of a fabulous, four-course food-and-wine-pairing dinner that preceded the awards ceremony. Broughton's delicious main course: rolled loin and braised neck of Karoo lamb with baby vegetables and a pea-and-marjoram ravioli was indicative of the talented chef's experience, style, precision and attention to detail.
Food-friendly wines
The lamb was paired with a glass of Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2007. “Kleine Zalze's wines are incredibly ‘food friendly' and match up to the intense depth of flavour that characterises my food,' commented Broughton. Food-and-wine pairings are an integral aspect of the Terroir dining experience.
Last night's award follows on Terroir's success in previous years, including winning Third-Best Restaurant as well as the Service Excellence Award in last year's Prudential Eat Out Restaurant Awards, the Johnny Walker Eat Out Restaurant of the Year and Service Excellence Award in 2006, and an Eat Out Top 10 in 2005.
