The Shimmy Beach Club, Cape Town, has announced its new winter menu. The a la carte menu is available until the end of August, 2016.
Old favourites, such as the lamb shank pot pie, Moodie burger and the Shimmy seafood platter remain on the menu, bolstered by new items like the slow-braised mutton curry roti, seared Indonesian marinated tuna steak, Prawns Nacional and chimichurri-marinated baby chicken.
Executive chef Adrian Cook said that patrons can expect the usual Italian and Mediterranean influences that Shimmy is known for. “The new menu is full of slow food from Umbria and includes warm, rich and hearty, country-style comfort food: meals that take you back to home and your childhood.”
Cider-braised pork belly
Chef Adrian already knows which dish will be the firm favourite. “Our guests are going to love the cider-braised pork belly. It’s something I enjoy cooking and sharing with friends and family.” Restaurant clients can also look forward to more complex dishes with intricate flavours, such as the venison loin wrapped in pancetta. Those following a Banting diet can look forward to a sushi or pizza option.
There are several surprises on the dessert list including key lime pie, Cape brandy pudding, home-made Granny Smith apple pie and a decadent Nutella pizza, with strawberries and mascarpone.
