Shape celebrates for charity

In 2002 Shape magazine launched the Care for the Carers campaign, a project that aims to provide moral, emotional and practical support to the caregivers in our society. This campaign is unique to Shape and works on the premise that if you don't care for yourself, chances are that you won't have the resources to care for others.

With Care for the Carers, Shape recognises those individuals in our society which give so selflessly of themselves, despite limited resources and utilise this platform to give something back in recognition of the hard work and commitment of these individuals.

Care for Carers is an annual campaign and each year, Shape selects a new beneficiary to support the people in care-giving roles. This year, Care for the Carers is supporting three designated units of the Child Protection Unit: Rabie Ridge in Gauteng, Goodwood in Cape Town and Durban North in KwaZulu/Natal.

A highlight of the Care for Carers campaign is the Shape charity ball. All money raised goes towards supplying what the beneficiary most needs, whether it be additional resources, counseling, debriefing, equipment or pampering treats. This year's glitzy event will take place at The Rotunda at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town and will include celebrity MC Marc Lottering, the 20-piece Johnny Cooper big band, an auction, and a three-course meal.
