Top 100 SA Wines results out for 2014

The Top 100 SA Wines competition, now in its fourth year, received nearly 500 entries for 2014. The winners included 52 reds, 34 whites, with the balance going to Cap Classiques, natural sweets, ports and fortified wines.

One of its winners was the Holden Manz Wine Estate for its Visionaire 2012 Blend in the Other Red Blends category. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Shiraz, which is ready to drink, but wine-maker Schalk Opperman suggests that the wine will benefit from a further few years bottle aging.
