Can an advertising campaign stop rape?

The brutal rape and murder of Anene Booysen in Bredasdorp has rightly enraged the nation, and in the forefront of our minds is: How can this scourge be curbed?

Gail Schimmel is equally outraged, but asks: Can an advertising campaign stop rape?

So you launched your website a while back... now Subhash Chandra asks how it has changed and suggests some ways in which you can make your website work. As he says, "change is good, but sometimes many objectives get lost amid the dynamic and fast-paced world of internet marketing that marketers tend to lose sight of what's really important."

In a two-part series, Struan Campbell takes a look at sports sponsorships and the power of sponsorship.

So what can we look forward to in 2013? Every year Bizcommunity invites selected experts in their respective fields to contribute to our Trends section, and this year is no different... We are currently compiling the PDF in which all the [2013 Trends] have been amalgamated and it will be ready for you during the course of this week.

Look out for it!

And finally, be sure to get the podcast of our latest Biz Takeouts show to find out everything you need to know about the business of blogging.

Branding

Understanding brands 101
[Lebo Mukansi] There is a plethora of definitions around what brands are. Here's a simple argument. In olden days, farmers would mark their cattle for identification of their animals. But this mark was not purely used as a physical mark of identification; it also communicated the ownership as well as the quality of the animal. The brand is not just a physical marker, it implies more than what is visible. If the above is still marketing gobbledegook...here's a simpler version. Read more >>
