SALES EXEC at House of Colours. Have been in the indusrty for 53 years. The basics that I learnt then still apply today. There are no shortcuts with Printing.
Show profile Hide profileServed my apprenticeship in the Printing industry as a compositor at Swan Press. Thereafter I went to London and worked in a Printing firm for 22 months and then toured Scandanavia and Europe.
On returning to South Africa I joined Hortors Printers as a compositor where hot metal type was phased out and went into their film make-up department.
After 3 years I joined Thomas Downing Advertising Agency as an assiatantant Production Manager for 2 years and then on be a Production Manager at Central Advertising and Kenyon Advertising both of each for a period of 2 years.
I then joined Sparham & Ford in their film make-up department and went on the become an A.E. and then into Costing and Sales.
At the end of December 1981 I moved down to Cape Town and worked for Sparhams Cape. All in all I had 22 years service with Sparhams.
Due to changes in the industry I have then worked for McManus Brothers, UCA Repro, Fairstep and Mega Digital. Once again as a Sales Executive for a period of 2 years each. Two of the foregoing Companies went in to liquidation. I have presently been with House of Colours for 8 years and find changes in technology very exciting.
