KZN Crane Foundation April 2014 to present
Responsibilities: Run and manage the foundation and developing processes for its running, include developing release protocols, strategies for the foundation and procedures and processes at the same time as rearing Wattled Cranes and training staff to do the same. Manage chick rearing staff, reserve staff, education staff. Develop research and analysis to determine successes of rearing and release project. Develop foundation strategy. Assist with fundraising. Develop Media and marketing. Support the development of educational material, Train staff on all aspects of reserve and rearing work. Organise and call in assistance for training where necessary.
Johannesburg Zoo 10/2009 to April 2014
Responsibilities: Managed 11 staff, 500+ individual birds and co-ordinated 2 projects.
Support the function of Collection Managers by undertaking additional duties as required.
Assist and take on Manager on Duty functions as required.
Directly contribute to all aspects of animal care, including husbandry routines, managerial operations and environmental enrichment, and supporting veterinary intervention as required.
Improve knowledge of animal biology and management, including observations & record keeping, supporting and participating in zoological research.
Rectify any historical errors as they arise.
Support and participate in education, media and marketing initiatives to encourage public understanding of animals and promote.
To support and assist in human hygiene, AIDS training and all other social education programs as required.
Coordinate, oversee and carry out animal husbandry routines and environmental enrichment
