A Bachelor of Arts in Communications graduate, specialising in Public Relations and Organisational Communication, I have over three years' practical experience in public relations through an internship position.
I have developed strong writing and editorial skills over the course of my studies and in my work as an intern for the Gauteng Department Of transport, during my two years full-time internship with the department . I have written and produced high-quality and effective fliers and posters, press releases, conference brochures and internal reports. I have also written copy for websites. My strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are demonstrated in these documents.
During my internship, I received an excellent grounding in general public relations practice. I gained experience in dealing with the media as I was the point of contact for media outlets interested in media releases. I successfully fielded enquiries and built up some fruitful business relationships with many media contacts. I also have great follow-up skills, which are very important for any organizational growth.
My ability to think outside the square is demonstrated by the events I have organised for the department during my stay with them.
