Show profile Hide profileI possess a Diploma in Journalism as well as a B-Tech Degree in Journalism where I majored in New Media. I am also in the process of obtaining a Masters in Journalism.
I also have exceptional writing and editing skills honed over the past 3 years in communication and corporate communications; from press releases to newsletters to video scripts to web sites. Developing and implementing communications strategies for reaching employees.
I have communication experience from having worked for both (UNAIDS) Regional Support Team for Eastern and Southern Africa as well as (MSF) Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Boarders in their communication departments. Here I was mandated with the writing, editing and proofreading of stories that appeared on the UN Global website.
I also have been working for a woman's online magazine as a journalist and sub editor and managing web content. Being part of the team maintaining the social networks saw our page in the top 3 for both categories that we were nominated in (Facebook page of the year and Best rated platform) and we were in the top 15 out of 43 finalists.
I believe my course work and my internship with these two internationally recognized non-profit organisations, makes me an excellent candidate. I also have had the opportunity to write reports for Daikonia Council of Churches.
Technology is becoming a vital component in the day-to-day operations of most offices, and I look forward to incorporating the technologies I've been exposed to and I am very excited to work with new systems. Organisation is vital when balancing multiple projects and demands, and the ability to organize well has made my experience much more rewarding.
Perhaps the greatest asset I offer is the ability to work with many personalities and groups of people, and I realise just how valuable that is when working with people.
Flexibility, adaptability, and strong follow through are key strengths that will enable me to be successful at your organisation.
My strengths include, but are not limited to the following;
· A motivated self-starter who takes the initiative, and who can work with minimal supervision.
· Being committed to providing a superior service to any organisation I work for.
· Fully computer literate with extensive software knowledge and proficiency covering a wide variety of applications.
