I started working in South Korea teaching English shortly after graduating from the University of Cape. After working in South Korea for two years, I am now back in Cape Town permanently. Although my teaching experience does not have a direct link to the Marketing industry, I have learnt some valuable skills which I believe would be beneficial in any Marketing position. Such skills include effective communication, analytical thinking and problem solving, researching and presenting information in interactive and creative methods, and working in a team with different cultures and languages.
My time abroad has also fuelled my interest and understanding of consumer behaviour and it's influences on marketing activities and vice versa.
While studying I worked as an assistant manager at Harfield Guest Villa. My role as assistant manager allowed me to develop skills in the use of Pastel Accounting Software; professional communication with customers, colleagues and suppliers; management of staff and building and maintaining customer relationships through social media platforms such as Facebook and Tripadvisor.
