After finishing International Relations at Groningen University in the Netherlands, Stef decided diplomacy was not his jack of trade. At an early age he already explored the world of photography, but it was not until 2010 that he began to exploit his passion for light professionally.

He is both active in Cape Town, South Africa and in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
