Summary: Simangele Sheila Dlikilili
Simangele Dlikilili has produced and directed a number of television programmes, music and corporate video profiles, packages, dubbing, sports, magazine, music and variety programmes. Smah has been involved in a number of television productions as a Producer, Director and an Executive Producer. I am currently running a video production house (Lashei Productions) together with my son (Theodore Dlikilili) who is a Director of the company. I also freelance for other video or music production houses as an Executive Producer, Producer, Director, etc.
My career in broadcasting started in 1985 when I joined the SABC in Durban as a Production Assistant. I was assigned in various programmes in the Sports Dept, Magazine, Dubbing, Music and Variety. I also presented a lot of television shows which includes: SABC1/ CCV - continuity presenter, Magazine, music, sport's programmes, etc. The highlight of my career was when I was promoted as an Executive Producer for Music and Variety Productions in 1993. My work experience as an Executive producer for various television programmes and as an entrepreneur has given me valuable insight into the television, broadcast and media process; with hands on experience of concept formulation, production approach, video treatment, studio and location shooting, offline and capturing editing, script writing, office administration, production budget and management. My time at the SABC and Safritel gave me an opportunity to gain media and promotion experience where creative initiatives, ideas and accountability allowed me to excel in my forte. My enjoyment, critical interest and building of relationships in the industry has increased remarkably throughout the years and have continued to grow.
Simangele Sheila Dlikilili is also an author of two books entitled; "A journey with my Father and Twist and Turns of Mistaken identity. My writing, research skills and ability have been perfected over the years. I always aspire to empower and develop the youth; working with my son has given me the satisfaction and joy to achieve that goal. Lashei Productions is currently involved in video production and event management: from conceptualizing to delivering final end product for corporate videos and television programmes. To achieve best results, our company is not afraid to take the initiative by pitching ideas or concepts, present and implement to potential clients. We thrive working under pressure and motivate our production team and crew to always strive for excellence.
