I am a student currently completing my final year of a Bachelor of Journalism Degree at Rhodes University. I have specialised in writing and editing in my final year and photojournalism in my third year. I am looking for employment in the journalism field. This may include newspapers, magazine or online work.

I have gained work experience during my studies at Grocott's Mail, an independent community newspaper in Grahamstown. I have also worked for Cue, which operates during the National Arts Festival, and the Daily Dispatch in East London. At all these publications, I have been given the opportunity to write, edit, pitch ideas, research, interact with community members and take photographs for stories.
I am also competent operating in an online work environment as I have had an editorial role in a start-up education blog called Ukufunda during the second half of this year. I have worked to market, edit and write for this blog regularly to create a community of interest around education in the Makana region.
I have also worked for the past two years as a Journalism and Media Studies 1 tutor, where I have been tasked the role of running a tutorial group once a week and marking the weekly assignments of 16 first years. This experience has taught me to take on a leadership role and edit other people's work confidently and competently.
I am able to begin work as of January 2015, or as early as December 2014 on request.
