He has over 10 years marketing and fundraising experience in the NGO industry in South Africa and has gained considerable experience across all facets of fundraising such as grant seeking, individual giving, institutional fundraising, online giving and cause related marketing.
Between 2010-2011, Renias worked for The National Children and Violence Trust where he was instrumental in developing the NCVT brand mostly on a pro-bono basis. He worked with two leading advertising agencies Volcano and Chillibush to create Two TV commercials which were flighted on Mnet and ETV channels to create awareness for the 16 days to No Violence against Women and Children. He was also responsible for bringing on board corporates such as SAB Breweries to support the fight against gender based violence.
Between 2012-2014, Renias worked for the Cancer Association of South Africa as the Regional Fundraising & Project Manager for the Central Gauteng Region. His primary role was to grow individual giving through fundraising events and face to face campaigns. During his tenure he successfully managed events such as the Shavathon 2012 and 2013 obtaining over R1,8 million in banked income.
In October 2014, he joined help2read as the Fundraising and Business Development Manager. His focus was to grow both corporate grant seeking as well as diversifying the fundraising base. While in this role, he obtained multi-year funding from institutional donors such Anglo American Chairman`s fund and Oppenheimer Memorial Trust. He has experience in the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund application process. He has experience in donor reporting and donor relationship management.
In his spare time, Renias consults on a number of NGOs in respect of fundraising and marketing strategy. In 2014 he consulted for the Gauteng Provincial Associations for Persons with Disabilities (GPAPD) for the Casual Day 2014. He also consulted with PinkDrive in respect of obtaining funding for the 2016 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
Renias holds a Post Graduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK) from the United Kingdom and is an Associate Member of that Institute which the largest professional marketing body in the world.
He also holds a Higher National Diploma in Marketing Management from Harare Polytechnic College in Zimbabwe. He has been legally staying and working in South Africa for the past 10 years.
