Nomusa Lizzie Sibiya is the IsiZulu Language Specialist. She started on 1 February 2011. Prior to this position she worked for Best Books, the imprint of NB Publishers, as the Commissioning Editor of IsiZulu. She translated (from English to IsiZulu) and edited most of the Foundation Phase books and is co-author of the FET Grammar books (Siyaphambili ngolimi lwethu) for Grades 10 to 12. She worked for the Gauteng Department of Education as an Editor - editing the Matric examination papers of all the Nguni languages i.e. IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, IsiNdebele and Siswati. She also worked as a teacher of IsiZulu at Tokelo and Isizwe-Setjhaba High Schools.
Her qualifications are: Secondary Teachers Certificate (Sebokeng College of Education); BA (Unisa); BAHons (African Languages) (University of Pretoria); and HDE (postgraduate) (Vista University). She contributed to the development of IsiZulu nationally by joining the Oxford University Press team of lexicographers and being a Chief Compiler of IsiZulu for the English School Dictionary (2010). She was the National Chief Examiner of IsiZulu for the Department of Basic Education (National Senior Certificate) and a Provincial Editor and Internal Moderator for Paper 2 (Gauteng Department of Education).
