She is a former journalist, with over thirteen years experience, having worked in both radio and television. Zimu moved from a community radio station background as a reporter to being one of the country's most recognised names in news media, when she finally pulled the curtain on her work in 2009 as a presenter on SABC 2's Morning Live. In these years she worked various positions including reporter, producer, presenter, anchor and editor. Amongst the companies she worked for are; Talk Radio 702, e-TV, SABC, Kaya-FM, East Coast Radio and Voice of Soweto. She's interviewed many, including President Jacob Zuma, Deputy President, Kgalema Mothlante, Former President, Thabno Mbeki and former Deputy President, Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka. Overseas she has exchanged views with Oprah Winfrey, Rev. Jessie Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, aqmongst others.
