Intern Strategy
20 Oct 2008 - 29 May 2009
Doing thorough research that translates to report writing and proposal presentation on marketing strategies for our various clients. Main Client base being Zain Cellular Network, Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA), Kenya Post Office, Kensta, Kenya Tourism. I did research, report writing, and presentations on the Johannesburg Arts Alive 2009 tender bidding - which was secured by ZBS for 3 years (R12million deal). Worked on the events co-ordination team of The Earth Hour Initiative 2009 (Global Warming Awareness Campaign), an initiative by the World Wide Fund (WWFSA).
Reason for leaving: When Zanusi Brand Solutions lost contracts from two of their big clients (ACSA and Zain) during the global economic meltdown, the last-in-first-out rule go me, and I was out of a job.
Standard Bank
Customer Consultant and Business Banker
9 Dec 1999 - 4 Nov 2003 (between 2003 and 2006, I was a Business member at Unilever networks where I was self-employed, selling Unilever products and recruiting other members to join - when the business closed down, I went to journalism school in 2007).
In the personal market, my role was assisting in the opening/closing of personal accounts, credit facilitation for personal clients, selling funeral insurance and facilitating claims, doing home-loan applications and any other client queries -face-to-face interaction with the client.
In the business market, my priority was the opening/closing of business accounts, credit facilitation which meant assessing risk through balance sheets and or business plans and putting-up applications and motivating the facilities required. I also had to sell all bank products and services related to SME's and emerging markets.e.g. Introducing clients to the in-house financial advisors, as per their financial needs.
