Jimmy Makgato
As CEO of LCJ Group, Jimmy Makgato's career path has journeyed through corporate challenges, successes and key highlights from the bottom to senior management levels at some of South Africa's top institutions. The end game has been a well-rounded, resourceful and experienced individual with a balance of corporate and entrepreneurial abilities.
Show profile Hide profileWith regards to educational background, Jimmy Makgato graduated from the University of Limpopo with a BA in Education), improved his studies with a Diploma in Business Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. Due to relocation and a new career challenge, the Post Graduate Diploma with IMM was relinquished at research stage. He however, completed a Sanlam - Senior Management Development Programme with University of Stellenbosch Business School.
The career path started in Education as a teacher at a high school in Limpopo before joining the pioneering team of Standard Bank's E Bank concept, first as a Loans Officer and soon thereafter as a Marketing Assistant to the Marketing Executive at E Bank Head Office. The marketing career path moved Jimmy through product development, product management, segment management in the hard-core marketing disciples of product and pricing; then communications including public relations, internal communications, advertising and sponsorships and lastly distribution. These functions were performed at blue chip companies including Standard Bank, Absa, Sanlam and Mutual & Federal.
Jimmy moved into Senior Management at Nedbank and Executive level at Sekoko before venturing into entrepreneurship on a full-time basis at LCJ Group, a company that he first founded in 2004 after leaving Sanlam.
