I am a young talented, vibrant and ambitious individual. I'm looking to work in an environment that offers me growth and fulfillment.
Show profile Hide profileI have been in retail for over 6 years and in education for the past 5 years. I consulted for companies like Estee Lauder, Aramis and Kanebo. I have learnt a great deal about customer service, event planning, management and administration. I have been involved in many event planning initiatives like Valentines promotions, Christmas events and other seasonal promotions. In my academic career, I assisted in graduation ceremonies, award ceremonies and student excursions.
Public Relations is about building external and internal relationships for an organisation to promote and build their image by generating positive publicity and managing crisis. Media relations is particularly important in Public Relations and it leads to publicity which is far more effective than advertising. I know the importance of having a social media presence as it is the medium of communication for the future. Research is another important tool that is used to formulate informed and precise PR strategy that yields ROI.
Lecturing has sharpened my PR skills. I have always been a creative, outspoken and brave individual. My classes are fun and interactive, and my teaching style is known to be innovative. I believe I can use my innovative skills and creativity to keep your organisation on the map. I have worked on many campaigns for actual companies e.g. SPCA, Reach for a Dream. I have guided students on product, awareness and fundraising campaigns. Getting down to the basics and planning each step of the campaign. I have also gone through the various case studies learning about how different companies dealt with marketing and PR issues. Some of these were the Coke-cola naming campaign as well as Burger King and their successful launch in Cape Town although they had to share the spotlight Justin Bieber and Bon Jovi at the time.
I spent a year working for the Aramis brand as a Mall specialist. I supervised the various counters at the Gateway shopping mall as well as at the Pavilion. I learnt how to manage a team, negotiate for promotional space as well as build relationships with key role-players in the game. Maintaining a good relationship with all key players is vital for any PR practitioner. It also involves a high pace schedule with deadlines to meet. I love the buzz PR creates and being on your toes reassures you that you are alive. Lecturing has been rewarding but I feel the need to get back in the game. I am thirsty for this opportunity, I know what it takes, and I am so eager to get the job done.
