Show profile Hide profileI have been in the media industry since 2006 and have worked on numerous national magazines and newspapers. I was one of the senior journalists for Sondag, a Media24, Sunday paper that sadly closed at the end of 2013. Prior to that I was the department head for proofreading and Afrikaans copy at Y&R and I have also worked at Caxton Magazines (Living and Loving) and Newspapers (Northside Chronicle and Roodepoort Record).
I am a skilled writer, editor and bilingual sub-editor. Part of my job at Media24 was to handle the social media (Twitter, Facebook and website) of the newspaper. I have a vast knowledge, understanding and experience of using different effective communications tools that really gets the message across.
Other publications I have worked on include: Finesse, Living and Loving, Rapport Rondrits, City Press and Northside Chronicle. I am currently the editor of Wood SA and Timber Times (the editor) and freelance on MamaMagic and Finesse.
I have experience in writing, editing and subbing, and I have a keen interest in news across the spectrum of hard news, politics, fashion, beauty and travel. I understand target audiences and I am able to deliver flawless, informative and enjoyable copy within a set deadline.
I am very independent, efficient and hardworking and manage my deadlines very carefully. I am unflappable under pressure and very involved with the publication I am working on. I am extremely mature, rational, self confident and sensible. I also have a vast general knowledge, understand social media and a keen interest in local and international news and events.
