Chris Marais
I am a vibrant, hard working, creative individual with a passion for design and art. I work well on my own and in a team. I have many years experience in a number of fields which I believe has given me an excellent all round and diverse approach.
Show profile Hide profileMy name is Chris Marais, I am a 27 year old Caucasian male. I am bilingual, English and Afrikaans. Coming from a creative background I have always been involved in the arts and design. I matriculated at Pretoria Boys' High School in 2001 being awarded the 'Brian Basson Memorial Award For Outstanding Creativity In The Field Of Art'.
I have worked in the fashion and retail industry for a number of years at Diesel, Young Designer's Emporium, Sportscene and Edgars doing merchandising, window display design and sales.
I then travelled abroad across Europe and the Middle East, working in retail, merchandising, installations, close-body protection and door supervision protection.
I then went on to study a 1 year Graphic and Information Design course at Open Window School Of Visual Communication back in South Africa, followed by a 3 year Graphic and Information Design Diploma under master fine artist and designer, Ernst De Jong. This also included fine arts, painting and illustration. On completion of the diploma I worked for Inkvis Design Studio, then went on to become a qualified Kwikwap web designer and Trainer.
I have also completed my HTML Developer Diploma through w3schools.
In early 2010 I was offered a Graphic and Web Design position in the marketing team at Global Trader, as their Creative Director was abroad in Europe. Here I was doing graphic and web design, html development, online marketing, market and trend research, interactive email campaigns and competitions, brand development, copy writing, atl and btl campaigns including radio, print and video for Global Trader who are an online full service provider dealing in stocks, indices, commodities, asset management and insurance. Part of Global Trader were Purple Capital Treasury and Corporate Finance as well as Voltbet who are an online sports betting company, and I did all the same work for them as well, which has given me a rich diversity of experience.
I believe I am an articulate, easy to approach person with a fun personality and a solid work ethic. I can work in a team just as successfully as on my own and always produce my best work.
