This takes us to where I come from and to where I'm headed to in life. I am a 20 year old boy coming from not an affluent home but with a great foundation. Typically, I was born in a Christian home that had great morals regarding life. Brought up by unemployed parent things were at times laborious to attain. But in order to survive, it was for the faith my parents had in Christ Jesus. My parents worked hard for me to conclude school and tried by all means to keep me contentment. By God's grace there was a community radio station in the neighborhood. Radio Khwezi is a radio station which is built on a Christian foundation and lead by Christian principles. I constantly felt at home whenever I visited the station because of how welcome I was.
I got involved with some programmes that took place within the radio station and did things voluntarily. I started off with my Sunday school teacher in Sunday school programmes. In that way I managed to get involved with other programmes that dealt with kids. I was part of the team for a weekly kids programme, and took part in on-air programmes. Then I went on to become a team member of the "Kids on Air" team. There I was trained by the Institute of the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ) to improve in driving kids programmes. With the passion and love for the media, I recognized that this was what I wanted. Whatever I did from then was out of love.
As time goes, we are never predetermined on one thing due to the changes of age. I couldn't stick around with kids for long, so I had to move to the next level. I started operating in music programmes in which I made progress and which made me improve in broadcasting. I then was confirmed in mind that I was born to be in the media. Doing music programmes made way for me to get occupied in a lot of activities that took place within the radio station.
I then took part in radio dramas produced at the radio station. I participated in promotion programmes done by the station. For the love of the media, I was definite persuaded that this is my gift and talent. I started seeing myself in another level of broadcasting. Working with people, communicating with listeners was and still is a great euphoria for me. Now I see myself working in national/international radio stations and taking part in television programmes.
As a result, I dream of being a successful radio and television anchor. That is why I decided to study Media Broadcasting. I do this for the love of the media, career, and my parents, for the love of the nation as a whole. If only I can get the prospect, my inclination will come true.
