I am innovative, self-motivated, ambitious, energetic and driven; all qualities that will be beneficial to your organisation. My excellent presentation skills, coupled with my effective strong and persuasive interpersonal techniques will ensure stakeholders will be better informed and can enhance relationships. My concern for accuracy will encourage produce a high quality of work while my adaptability will encourage creativity.
My resourceful leadership skills and expertise in creating image-based marketing and communications programmes have been used to create integrated strategies to increase competitiveness, secure new clients while improving service and increasing profitability. I have worked on accounts for blue chip companies and popular lifestyle brands, implementing public relations programmes and writing targeted press releases. While running my own business; I managed store launches and promotions for Foschini, Donna Claire, Luella and Fashion Express across South Africa.
During my time with Sanlam, I gained valuable experience and an understanding the financial services industry while maintaining a high level of sales despite a downturn in the economy (facilitated sales of nearly 500 000 promotional items) and managing high profile exhibitions for the company including Decorex, The Women's Show, PSG Investment Conference, Baby Expo and Baba Indaba.
Working for Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) as the team leader for the first face-to-face fundraising team in Africa gave me greater insight to the workings of non-governmental organisations and has helped me contribute towards the global community.
Lecturing Public Relations, Communication Science, Media and Journalism and English at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Varsity College enabled me to share my knowledge, keep abreast of the latest trends and learn more in the process. Dealing with the diverse concerns of students, parents, and faculty, I have become adept at operating with the proper mix of authority, diplomacy, and tact.
I have also been working as a freelance events co-ordinator and photographer, specialising in fashion. I have extensive experience of managing and/or photographing events including fashion shows. Most recently: Glam for Good, Eye Candy, Static X, Kaleidoscope, Sugar, Ooh La Lah 2010 summer range launch and Ragnarok launch. My work has been published on the Channel24 and Beachwatch websites, as well as seen in FHM and Die Son.
