Having trained with Pamela Trevelyan Public Relations in Johannesburg in 1987, he gained experience in the advertising industry with The Creative & Strategic Agency until 1991. He then formed Wordsworth Communications, before moving to Cape Town in 1992.
Alby then joined the V&A Waterfront Management Company spending fourteen years in the marketing field, seven of which were as Advertising, Publications & Communications Manager. He then headed Events, Entertainment & Promotions for several years and finally managed the Online Marketing & Customer Relationship Management (CRM & Loyalty) portfolio.
Since leaving the Waterfront in 2007, he has consulted in obtaining publicity for various Associated Magazine events (Oprah Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire & House & Leisure), Stuttafords (assisted with launch of new signature store at Canal Walk - November 2009), Obz Festival 2008, Jazzart Dance Theatre, Baxter Dance Festival and a number of other smaller entertainment productions.
Other clients prior to 2007 include inter alia Hugo Boss (Waterfront store launch), Saatchi & Saatchi, Klerck & Barrett (Cape), L'Avenir Wine Estate & Guest House, Litchfield's Restaurant (JHB), Sleepy Hollow Entertainment (JHB Casino/Club) and Karo Healthcare.
More recently, he expanded his field of expertise into audio visual (film) production for UCT's Communications Sciences & Disorders Division for whom he has been involved in the production of three promotional audio-visuals (Audiology, Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy).
