R400 000 for grassroots rugby
The Legends Cup project, which gives promising youngsters from disadvantaged communities the opportunity to develop their skills and receive top coaching, has received a R400 000 pledge from its new title sponsor, MSP Developments. The aim of the Legends Cup programme is to introduce 5 000 schoolchildren to rugby and to encourage the game in Cape Town's townships. The company has just concluded a R2 million, 4-year sponsorship of the Durbanville Bellville Rugby Club and will donate a further R500 000 as a parting gift.
