Trinco Salutes Women campaign
Trinco has embarked on a social responsibility project which is set to launch in November. The “Trinco Salutes Women” campaign is aimed at women in the communities of Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal. Trinco together with the Food Gardens Foundation (FGF) will be providing these women with the opportunity to grow their own vegetable gardens.
The project kicked off when Trinco decided to give back to the community. They embarked on this project to acknowledge and salute the phenomenal women of South Africa. The idea behind the Trinco Food Gardens is to empower women with different skills which will enable them to provide for their families. This project will enhance the spirit of ubuntu in the community as the women will be working together as a team to achieve the ultimate goal of owning the best vegetable garden.
The Gauteng launch took take place at Katlehong Chivirikani Primary School on 14 November 2007. The master of ceremonies was Generations actress, Winnie Ntshaba. There were also speeches from Trinco, FGF and the local leaders as well as a representative of all the women involved in the project. The pupils from Katlehong Primary school performed between the speakers to add energy and enthusiasm to the event. The key activity for the launch was a walk to the food gardens where the Food Gardens Programme was officially launched by cutting a ribbon at the entrance to the garden plots. The day ended with a performance by Gang of Instrumentals.
