Cape Union Mart keeps kids warm during winter
Thursday, 1 July 2010, was an out of the ordinary day for two teenage boys from underprivileged backgrounds. On their first ever trip to the V&A Waterfront, Odwa and Samkelo were taken to the Cape Union Mart Adventure Centre to select brand new winter outfits. They were each presented with a pair of shoes, socks, thermal underwear, t-shirts, jeans, a beanie, gloves and a K-Way technical rain jacket to the value of R4 000.
The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, approached Cape Union Mart with the idea of giving two children the comfort of keeping warm this winter. Cape Union Mart in turn approached singer Aviva Pelham, who is currently coordinating the gala tribute at Dance for All. Pelham immediately thought of Odwa and Samkelo who are training to become professional ballet dancers.
