    mapIT, MobiTech form strategic partnership

mapIT, the international digital mapping partner to business and governments throughout Africa, has formed a strategic partnership with MobiTech Mobile Solutions in offering their LBS technology platform, deCarta, to power MobiTech's mobile workforce solution.

Organisations that utilize fieldworkers to perform quality assurance testing through on-site surveys which require sending tasks to their field teams to collect information such as GPS co-ordinates, multiple digital photographs, validated meter readings, barcodes and other survey information require a mobile workforce solution. MobiTech has developed a system that serves these exact requirements with respect to sending the appropriate tasks to the mobile users and receiving the information back from the field timeously and accurately.

"Previously customers only had a signature as proof of delivery, now we offer a visual of the product, X:Y co-ordinates of the delivery or collection address and an estimated time of arrival (ETA)" says Ian Hoffman, director of MobiTech Mobile Solutions.

The deCarta technology suite which is widely recognised as an independent enabler of location based services, will be integrated into MobiTech's platform which will enable intelligent decisions making use of location. Through live tracking, companies will be able to view where their employees are and what they are actually doing as opposed to what is being reported. In addition live data feeds on employee tasks assigned will ensure companies are able to keep customers updated on task and delivery progress.

"By location enabling mobile workforce solutions businesses are able to save on fuel costs due to route optimisation and improve on staff productivity by knowing exactly where employees are located and reporting on tasks assigned with visual affirmation" says Etienne Louw, managing director of mapIT.

"The occurrence of the infamous Ugandan 'mango tree syndrome' where a field worker lies under a mango tree filling in his job sheets instead of executing the job is prevalent everywhere in Africa and the MobiTech system is ideal for ensuring your organisation does not fall victim of this syndrome" concludes Louw.
