Entries open for Top Technology 100 Business awards

Entries have opened for the 2014 Technology Top 100 Business Awards programme, a business initiative launched by the South African Engineering Association (SAVI) to draw attention to the importance of developing a local culture of technological innovation and excellence.

The programme has evolved into one of the foremost business awards programmes that lauds companies for their business prowess in the management of technology, innovation, people, systems, regardless of their industry.

Innovation across sectors

The TT100 Business Awards Program takes into consideration innovations across a wide range of market sectors and business arenas, including the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, big business and private-public sector partnerships that highlight innovation, entrepreneurship and research and development in these areas in an attempt to enable a smart economy.

The programme is an effective vehicle for achieving growth and innovation advancement within the economy, whilst raising awareness of the critical need for companies to embrace the management of technology, innovation and people in a systemic and sustainable manner. Since 1994, TT100 has had endorsement of the South African government, having received substantial support from the Department of Science and Technology.

The Technology Top 100 Awards are recognised as a Premier Business Excellence Award as confirmed by Mosibudi Mangena and Naledi Pandor previous and current Ministers of Science and Technology in South Africa.

The programme also managed to secure the support of Hewlett Packard, The Independent Development Corporation, Eskom and Price Waterhouse Coopers since 1991.

The TT100 Awards Programme forms part of The Da Vinci Institute business (a private higher education provider that offers education and research solutions related to the Management of Technology, Innovation, People and Systems (TIPS)).

The entries for this year's awards are open and in terms of benefits to the entrants, the programme intends to:

    • provide an opportunity for entrants to maximise the programme's benefits and networking platforms to foster strong relationships with both private and public sector organisations

    • facilitate exposure through the various TT100 communication platforms and media partners
    • provide an opportunity for emerging TT100 entrants to participate in mentorship programmes within their specific business sector

    • offer an opportunity for entrants to benchmark their organisation against their competitors and peers
