Two such projects have been recently completed and another is currently underway in the Western Cape to meet the need for rapidly deployed classrooms, in sync with the Western Cape Government's aim to build solid foundations at a primary school level and, ultimately, improve on learner pass rates and matric results. In view of the fact that your environment has an impact on your education, classrooms that are waterproofed and offer temperature control, as well as noise reduction, aid in equipping learners to gain knowledge optimally.
Situated in a farming region along the West Coast, the small town of Darling has seen the completion of 20 classrooms, four ablution facilities and three staff rooms at Vooruitsig Primary. This project, which involved extensive civil works, commenced on 5 December, 2013, and, on completion, on 11 February, 2014, 800 learners were provided with the hope of a greater level of education with new school facilities.
During the same timeframe, some 60km south of Darling at Du Noon Primary School, two new classrooms were supplied and four existing modular classrooms on site were relocated to make allowance for an area where a brick-and-mortar school will be built. The rapid deployment of these modular classrooms meant that another 900 learners were impacted on by the provision of new classrooms and the promise of an upgraded school.
Further to this, Kwikspace has been involved with the delivery of 47 units at Steynville Primary School in Piketberg from the month of January 2014 to function as a temporary mobile school. The original school - decades old - will be demolished after site handover on 10 April, 2014, in order to rebuild a new brick-and-mortar structure. The completion of Kwikspace's involvement with this project at the end of April 2014 will have another 1300 learners provided with new classrooms and suitable school amenities as the construction of the permanent school takes place.
