"The concept of my stamp design is to inspire fellow South Africans to greatness through the words of well-known South Africans from history," says Elliot, who won R22,000.
The second prize of R15,000 won by Dreyer has stamps inspired by the quote from executive mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille who said: "A city belongs to its people and it must be designed for and with them and their communities..."
Creighton's stamps won R10,000, featuring five areas that represent the five themes: the Waterfront, Cape Town Stadium, the Foreshore, the Fringe and the Company Gardens.
The judges were Marilyn Martin, retired director of Iziko SA National Gallery; Gavin Younge, emeritus professor at the University of Cape Town and two well-known artists and stamp designers, Tobie Beele and Hein Botha. Beele has been designing stamps since 2006 and Botha since 1972.
